Greenberg-Ryan New Owners of The Texas Rangers

By Katrina King

Negotiations went into the early morning hours (Thursday 8/5/10) Nolan Ryan and the Ryan Group consisting of Chuck Greenberg and his ace in the hole, top backers Fort Worth's XTO Energy founder Bob Simpson and Dallas pipeline billionaire Ray Davis manage to dig deep, deeper, deepest in their pockets to pull off the purchase of the American League West leader (the Rangers) from Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban and Houston investor Jim Crane.
A Dallas bankruptcy judge approved the teams reorganization plan, which include the sale of the Rangers to Ryan-Greenberg with their promise to pay off debts owed by the Rangers to former player Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) and others who are still receiving deferred compensations. The winning bid: $593 million. Will someone please tell me where in the hell people get this can of money to play with? Did Mark Cuban really need another sports franchise to own?
Cuban said on his e-mail and blog: "All this came together in less than three weeks. It's not easy putting together $600 millions dollar deal in that period of time. Jim Crane was a great partner and we had a lot of really smart people that worked hard just to pull together what we did. But we had a limit on what we could spend."

Texas Rangers lose to the Boston Redsox 3-1

By Katrina King

The Rangers loses to the Redsox tonight 3-1. The Rangers will have to force themselves to be patient in tomorrows night (Sunday 8/15) finale against the Redsox. It will be interested to see what Rangers manager Ron (Wash) Washington will do in terms of Rangers line up and starting pitchers. Will he go with probable pitcher C. J. Wilson against Redsox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka? Matsuzaka, known as "Dice-K" born in Tokyo, Japan throws and bats right handed. On the other hand C.J.Wilson Bats/Throws let handed. So it will be the right hand pitcher (Matsuzaka) against the left hand pitcher (C.J. wilson) pitching tomorrow night at The Ballpark in Arlington. It will certainly be a HOT Sunday afternoon. First pitch is at 2:05pm.

Most NBA teams have signed veteran players who were free agents at the end of the season either stayed with their current team or move around to another team. As of this blog time, LeBron James still have not anoounce which way he'll go. WIll he stay with the Cavalies or move around? His announcement will come 8pm central time on ESPN. Is this LBJ's ego at work? come on now...making an announcemnet on ESPN (hoopla) whose idea was that?

Anyway, it the NBA summer league going for the next two weeks. Dallas Mavericks draft pick Dominique Jones show promising signs that he and Roddy Beabouis will work well together at the #1 and #2 spot. Other players that were in the NBA pool, former and present, also were participating in the Mavs summer league showing coaches, especially coach "Monty" Matthews whose the summer league coach for the Mavs what they are working with.

The team travel to Las Vegas to show coaches what they're working with hoping to get a spot on the roster for the 2010-2011 season that begin in November 2010 with training camp beginning in late October. More to come.

Nowitzki resigns for 5 year deal worth more millions!

By K. King

Good news for the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk stays with the Mavericks for another 5 years worth 70 million dollars, exactly how many zeros are in that number? Good for the Mavs beccause Dirk is the cornerstone of the Mavs, this is Dirk's team. That's what Josh Howard use to say...He would never say it out loud and never to the media for them (us) to print or blog about negatively. Glad to see owner Mark Cuban dug deep inhis pocket to keep Dirk. More to come, stay tune.

OMG!!! Mavs Nowitzki Opt Out!

By K. King (Dallas -AP)

“He is our No. 1 priority—period,” Nelson said. OMG! Dirk Nowitzki decides to become a free-agent opting out his 5th year with the Mavericks. Presidnet and general manager, Donnie Nelson will travel to Germany this Thursday (June 26, 2010) to visit Dirk begging him to stay with the Mavs. Nowitzki have been the cornerstone of the franchise during his entire career with the Mavericks. I'm willing to bet if/when Dirk leaves the Mavs winning percentage will go down, down, down.

Good luck Donnie...hope you're able to change his mind.

Yao Ming returns to the Rockets

HOUSTON (AP)

According to the Houston Rockets, Yao Ming will exercise his option to return to the Rockets after sitting out a year with a foot injury. The 7-foot-6 All-Star center who said last Tuesday that he has picked up his player option for next season, the last year of his five-year contract. Yao sat out last season following reconstructive foot surgery and said he wanted to see how the injury healed before making his decision. Apparently, his foot has healed as expected.

Yao resumes basketball activities and hopes to be near 100 percent when training camp begins. “To miss one year is a long time,” Yao said. “I’ve never been in this situation before, and I’m getting as much information as I can about my foot, to see what’s the best for me and best for the Rockets. I decided a couple of days ago, and there’s no one better than the Rockets now.”

The question is will he get playing time? I doubt it.
