Utah Jazz beat the Dallas Mavericks ...bad

By K. King

Dallas, Tx - The Mavericks had a cold shooting night...not only was it in the 17 degrees outside the American Airlines Center (AAC) so was it inside. the Mavericks struggle the entire game. The game tied at 18 points in the first quarter, The Jazz went on a 8-0 run for the rest of the period taking a 8 point lead into the 2nd qurter. I asked coach Carlise about offensive boards giving Mavs an opportunity for second chance points. Coach had this to say, "We had 14 tonight, we just didn't play well".

In tonight's game, Mavs center, Erick Dampier had 6 offensive rebounds and 7 rebounds for the Mavs. Damp has been performing well this season. Again, I once compare him to former Mavs center James Donaldson...all height and no hands. Damp needs to learn to dunk the ball each time he gets it especially under the basket. Makes no sense when he wants to lay it up and miss it. A wimp move. Dunk it!!!!

You can count of Dirk to get his points each game. This dude is a natural born scorer. Nowitzki scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 10 for 10 in free throw attempts in tonight's game.

Josh Howard (left quadriceps) and Drew Gooden (left ring finger) were both out due to injuries.

F__ __ K !! Drew Gooden word after finger injury

By K.King

San Antonio, TX - Dallas Mavericks beat the San Antonio Spurs 112-103, on their turf. In the second quarter, Drew Gooden, injured his finger while defending Spurs guard, Ginobili. On a play defending Ginobili, Gooden, the tough defender that he is dislocated his left right ring finger. He and Mavs head trainer Casey Smith ran off the court to try to put the finger back in place while yelling for the doctor. Later Gooden would return to the game with his finger taped, he wouldn't play for the remaining of the game.

Erick Dampier hit a 3-pointer with seconds left in the 4th quarter to seal the defeat....well, the defeat was eminent, Damp added the icing on the cake. Damp haven't hit a 3 pointer since his rookie year with Indiana. How long has he been in the league:)?. After the game Damp had the to say: " Going down the stretch Jet saw I was open, I shot it". Laughing he says, "a shooter know when it's good".

This is the Mavs 13th win on the road in San Antonio tonight. Jason Terry and Dirk Nowitzki lead the way. Drew Gooden is a soldier! He played hard in the first half suffering a dislocated right finger while defending Spurs Genobili on a defensive stop play, he had to the leave the game in the 2nd quarter. Gooden returned with tape finger, continued play.

Jason "JT" Terry had an explosive game in the fourth quarter knocking down key shots. He and Dirk paired together down the stretch, not forgetting Jason Kidd are the best under pressure. Tim Thomas and rookie guard Roddy Beaubois played some minutes and change the energy of the game. Hope coach insert Chris umphries in the game gien hin an opportunity to play some minutes while this team is healthy and to get in on some of this NBA action going down the stretch of the season. Dallas has one of the better scoring benches in the league.

2010! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Aaron Brooks lead the Houston Rockets to a 97-94 victory over the Mavs on New Years Eve @ The Toyota Center.

The Rockets had an outstanding first half on offense and they held Dirk Nowitzki, who made just three of 12 shots overall, to two missed shots and two points in the first half. Didn't matter, because this night belong to Rockets guard Aaron Brooks. Brooks lit the Mavericks up for 30 points! The Rockets zone was in a zone - everything clicked right.

However, the Mavericks got off to a slow start. Offensively they struggle shot went up but sisn't fall in. The Rockets defensive zone plays were to much for the Mavs on this New Years Eve night.

“The zone itself allows you to shoot 3s, and I pretty much wanted to shoot 3s,” said Brooks, who led the Rockets in scoring. “We did a great job on defense. I think that was one of the best jobs we did on Dirk. We held them under 100 points. I think that was one of the first times we did that.”

Rockets coach Rick adelman seems to think differently about the zone defense; "The zone is not a great defense if you attack it right, and I thought we stood way too much,” coach Rick Adelman said. “I don’t like standing and just taking standstill 3s. We have to go inside, outside. We have to have cutters going through. It’s something we have to talk about, but I’ve never had a team that’s struggled against the zone, and we shouldn’t either with the people we have inside.”

This win is the Rockets 6 straight at home and 11 for December '09.

Rockets All Star Tracy McGrady seeking trade deal

Houston, Tx.... Tracy McGrady trade rumors are circulating,. Sounds pretty factual, fans. Tracy has struggled since returning back from knee surgery, his playing time reduced his feelings are hurt.

Unhappy, disgruntle former all-Star, Tracy McGrady has been cleared to take an indefinite leave from the Houston Rockets after his representatives and Rockets management agreed to disagree and work together in search of a trade for the unhappy guard, according to sources close to the situation.

McGrady ask coach Adelman for increased playing minutes (keep in mind, McGrady is coming back from a microfracture knee surgery) and was denied. Ouch! So, coach Adelman allowed him to return to Houston while the team continue a weekend road trip.

Sources close to the process told ESPN.com that multiple communication between Rockets GM Daryl Morey and coach Rick Adelman in conjunction with McGrady's agent, Arn Tellem, led to a mutual agreement that would try to work something out before the the trading deadline on Feb. 18.

When McGrady's agents pressed for commitments about when his playing time would increase -- he has averaged 8 minutes in his six appearances this season with the Rockets. The Rockets aren't making any commitments, leading both sides to conclude that combining their efforts to try to facilitate a trade is the best option.

"Whoever gets me is going to get a hungry ... player. I don't care if I go to the damn moon. It doesn't matter. I've been hungry since I came back from my surgery. ” -- Rockets guard Tracy McGrady said.

Sources say, sides have agreed that the best thing to do is to allow Tracy to leave the team to work out on his own and stay ready in case a deal can be made. Ouch! sounds like Tracy won't be a rocket much longer. NBA All-Star break is next month and trades usually take place during that time. Meanwhile, the Rockets hope that McGrady's departure will spare his teammates and coaches from the distraction of daily questions about the two-time scoring champion's status.

Rockets guard Aaron Brooks told the Houston Chronicle,
"We just keep going." "Everybody has a job to do. It's the same old story. Nothing changes. "We always wish the best for Tracy. We can't do anything about what goes on with them. You [media] guys are about the only ones talking about it. We don't talk about it. We let that happen. We let it play out. We might joke about it. We might joke about the media talking about it. That's about it."

"I don't blame any player for saying I want more, and that's basically what [McGrady] wants, and right now I'm not sure how to do that," Adelman told reporters in Jersey during a weekend roadtrip. Rick, why not?

Tracy was healthy enough to play in only 35 games last season, he insists, his next team will be getting a steal no matter what his numbers say and in spite of concerns about his surgically repaired knee.

"Whoever gets me is going to get a hungry ... player," McGrady told the Houston Chronicle. "I don't care if I go to the damn moon. It doesn't matter. I've been hungry since I came back from my surgery. "I rededicated myself, refocused, moved to Chicago, worked out the whole summer there. It was every day just grinding, just pushing. I'm not even supposed to be playing right now, so that really tells you how hard I've been working. I wasn't supposed to be playing until January or February. If you asked anybody who had [microfracture surgery] it probably took them a year to really feel full strength. I feel fine right now."

Hang in there T-Mac!

LeBron James, Shaq Cavaliers Tonight!

The last time these two ball clubs met was during preseason exhibitions games. Shaquille made the trip but did not play, wanted to rest. LeBron James made his appearance during pregame warmups, like Shaq, he chose not to play.

In the last meeting, Mavs won. In their second meeting in Cleveland, the Cavaliers won. The ball is in Dallas court tonight, interesting to see what the Mavs will do with it. Meanwhile, Mavs Dirk Nowitzki left the game with 9minutes to go in the second quarter. He and Houston's Carl Landry collided together causing Landry to lose three teeth and transported to a local Dallas hospital, and Nowitzki received 3 stitches in his elbow. Likely, he'll be in the starting line up tonight.

Rockets beat the Mavs in overtime 12/18/09

Wow! This was a good game. Even the floor photographers were ohing and awing. When the players fell, we love it! Our cameras went click, click, click. Great Mavs basketball! This game was championship caliber, Aaron Brooks, Lowery, Ariza dominated the Rockets offense.

For Dallas, JJ Barea scored 23 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal in 35 minutes. He's a bad boy! JJ comes off the bench with great enthusiasm ready to grind. He has hustle, heart, passion and knowledge of the game. Houston jump out strong on the Mavs, held the lead most of the game until 4th quarter.

Quotes:

Mavs Shawn Marion:
"They came out very aggressive and after they got the lead early in the 2nd quarter and they lead the entire game until we made that run in the 4th. It was a very physical game out there, there were a lot of things going on, a heated game and a game we could have won but we fought to the end. We just couldn't pull it out in overtime."

For Houston, Kyle Lowery is just a tough competitior all over the floor and that's the kind of defener you want on the floor. He scores, he hustles, he helped lead his team to a 116-108 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

The fourth-year point guard set a new career-high with 26 points. Kyle was terrific,” said Rockets’ Head Coach Rick Adelman after the game. “He’s just a tough competitor and he’s always going to give you 100 percent and tonight he was making shots, making plays and that is kind of what we’ve been getting: someone different off the bench has been stepping in and doing the job.”
Quotes:

Rockets KYLE LOWRY :
"Down the stretch and in overtime we just wanted to win the game any way we could. We went out there and did what we could do. Me and Aaron were getting open and hitting shots. It was a great team win and I know we’re happy. We have a good team. Everybody is unselfish, everyone likes each other and we know we have to go out there and play harder than the other team and that’s what we try to do every single night.
We knew the history of it, we just wanted to go out there and get the lead and just play hard and not let what they did to us the last two times happen again.

Jason Kidd got into a small scuffle, Tim Thomas stepped in along with several others on the floor to make sure nothing got outta hand. Dallas Tim Thomas would later redeemed himself with a three pointer. Erick Dampier had 9 points with 14 rebounds, 7 of those were offensive boards with 3 blocks in 32 minutes. Wow! Didn't know Erick had it in him, he's showing fans each game, he can be force to be reckoned with.
When Dampier first became a Dallas Maverick, he reminded me of former Maverick center, James Donaldson. All height, no hands and no hustle. Clearly, Damp has made a conscious effort to improve his game, or was healthy competition (Gooden, Humphries) that made the difference. The game is his 5th of the season with 14+ rebounds.

Dampier was ejected from the game with 1:01 to go in overtime after being assessed his 2nd technical foul. So was coach Rick Carlise. Carlise was hit with a technical after disagreeing with a call the officials made. Must watch the officials. They will cheat

Rockets, Tracy McGrady played 7 minutes and scored 2points.. Not much action from Tracy, he sat on the bench enjoying the game looking around and making some kids night by throwing up the peace sign acknowledging them yelling out his name. Rockets guard, Aaron Brooks burned the Mavs for 25 pts and teammate Kyle Lowery scored 26 minutes in 38 minutes.

Injury Update:

Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki and Rockets Carl Landry both left the game at the 9:28 mark of the 2nd quarter after a collision on the Mavericks baseline. Nowitzki received treatment to a right elbow laceration that included 3 stitches. X-rays taken of the area were negative. Landry was taken to an area emergency room to have 3 broken teeth treated. Ouch!!
