"What the hell was he thinking?"

By K. King (Dallas, Texas)
Images by Channing Jemerson

What was coach Rick Carlisle thinking when he chose to play Ian Mihinmi over Brendan Haywood in a game against the "Best in the West" showdown between the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks. Dirk dressed in street clothes missed the game against the Spurs.

Coach Carlisle, fans I spoke with seem tho think that coach made a "stupid" decision playing Ian Mihimi and not Brendan Haywood. Talk about scratch my head? What the hell was he thinking?

What was coach thinking? "He's stupid" says fan as we walked out the American airlines Center after the game.. Makes no sense. Of course, in the post game interview, Carlisle attempted to explain his reason for his decision. We (media) left the interview with nothing.

However, Carlise did say he spoke with Haywood (Brendan) of his decision earlier before game time. Haywood hasn't been playing his best game. Not sure if something negative has gotten him in a funk thereby, affecting his game. Could it possibly be 'coaches decisions' made that lessens his minutes? Who knows? Whatever his reason, why the game against San Antonio, where a win for the Spurs was inevitable.

Oh yeah, the referees favored the Spurs too. No breaks for the Mavs. Surprised?

Can you say "fixed".

Rockets win 8 consecutive home games beat Wizards 100 - 93

The Toyota Center - Houston, Texas

Aaron Brooks (13 points) helped the Rockets come back from a 10 point deficit, scoring 13 points in the final minutes of the game. Shane Battier also had a good night against the Wizards with 16 points also helping the Rockets extend their lead to a victory.

Mavs lose to Toronto 84-76

By Katrina King

Can't blame it on not having the big guy (Dirk Nowitzki) in the game. Can't blame it on Toronto for playing a solid defense and an offensive game. Can't blame it on the referees. The Mavs played "subpar" as coach Carlisle said.

The Toronto Raptors simply outplayed the Mavericks at the Ameican Airlines Center. Yes, the Mavericks may have had a chance to win if Dirk was in the lineup tonight, but, he wasn't. The guys stepped up played cohesively and won in Oklahoma when Dirk went down in the first quarter of the game.

Shawn Marion joined the starting line up in place of Nowitzki. Marion had another good night ending the night with 12 points. Even, Brian Cardinal got a piece of the scoring action.

"It's been bothering me for awhile"

By Katrina King

Dirk went out in the first quarter in the OKC game with 9 minutes to go in the first quarter. during a play dirk went up for the ball and landed awkwardly twisting his ankle. He would not return for the remainder of the game.

Dirk spoke briefly to reporters after the game, saying " This felt scarier than any other injury. If this was just a twisted ankle than I could walk it off. But this is a different. I'll have a M.R.I tomorrow morning and will go from there".

On the team win: "Guys were stepping up left and right." Tyson with the tip in, Caron and Shawn with scoring. It felt good to see the guys perform well".

On Time Arrival

By K. King

Leader of the game: Caron Butler. Dirk was hurt in the first half..out for the rest of the game with a sore right knee. Shawn "The Matrix" Marion had the hot hand, Jason Terry (Mr. 4th quarter) started the fourth quarter knocking down shots. Kevin Durant kept Oklahoma City in the ball game.
"JET is on the runway" as fans say in court side chat. Jason Terry mind and his spirit is always on the game. Although, Dirk went out in the first quarter, Marion scored 20 points stepped up and filled the need in the power forward spot. As the Matrix in Phoenix, Shawn is comfortable in his position with the Mavs. "I had to stick it out tonight to get it done and that's what I did". "the more active I am in the paint, the better for or team".

In coach Carlisle place was his assistant coach, Dwane Cassey whom guided the team to a victory without Carlisle. His first win. I know coach Carlisle is pleased with how the team played on the road without their star player Dirk Nowitzki. Led by coach and leader on the floor, Jason Kidd (10 assists and 9 rebounds).
When you have depth on the bench, the captain (J. Kidd) can just orchestrate plays. Tyson is such a defender in the middle and a potential threat. But once, again the talk of the game is Mr. 4th quarter, Jason Terry. Mavs held Oklahoma City Thunder, Kevin Durant to 4 points in the fourth. Oklahoma City Thunder played a good game but the Mavericks left the arena with the "W".

Mavs try to keep the Thunder at bay with Caron Butler's 3 pointer in the 4th quarter.

Mavs Player spreads Holiday Cheer this Christmas

By Katrina King

Tis' the season to be jolly! This time of year there's allot of despair, loneliness, sorrow and depression. Single parents raising their children living on low income, can hardly make ends meet year round. Then Christmas comes and some of those same single parents are struggling to make sure their families have holiday cheer.

Dallas Mavericks, forward, Shawn Marion knows first hand what it is like being raised by a single mom. He recalls one time for Christmas receiving a pair of pants and socks. No toys, just a couple pieces of clothing.
For the past six years, Marion have blessed others during Christmas. On Christmas eve, Shawn, will choose ten single moms across the metroplex and personally deliver Christmas gifts. He has learned that most families are really in need of items like toilet paper, toothpaste, soap....toiletries.
So on Christmas eve, Dallas Mavericks Shawn Marion will personally make ten families holiday wishes come true if not the very least provide them with what their family needs.

Nash went out in the first quarter

By Katrina King

Former Dallas Maverick guard SteveNash toook a hard hit from Mavs center Tyson Chandler in the first quarter of the game Mavericks versus the Phoenix Suns. During a rebound possession that was lost in the mix up between Chandler and Nash, it appears from the reruns that Nash was hit by the hip of Chandler.

Nash had to go out and cbe treated. No on Steve Nash injury yet. He was on the floor a few minutes constantly working out his motor skills which is a positive sign that he has no neurological injury. More on Suns guard Steve Nash as updates become available.

Tyson Chandler, American Idol? Huh?!

By Katrina King

The best center ever in Mavs history sang a couple of notes on ESPN radio. Tyson Chandler belted out a couple of tunes from one of his favorite Michael McDonald songs at the request of Ben and Skin radio show.

From what I heard over the radio lines, I could not tell if he was any good or not. For one reason , he called in to the show and as always it is very hard to tell just how well his vocals were. "Really?!". "I thought I sounded pretty good".
However, Chandler really thinks he can sing. " I'll be the next 7'1 American Idol", he says. I told him to keep his day job.

Dirk Nowitzki is a baaad boy!

By Katrina King

On this particular night Dirk scored 30 points against the Utah Jazz. This is why Dirk Nowitzki is the franchise player. This guy can score at any time! Never need to worry about Nowitzki having a bad night, if so, one wouldn't know. Even his bad nights are good.

DeShawn Stevenson voted Player of the Game

Mavs guard DeShawn Stevenson ( seated far left) is voted by fans "Player of the Game" with 17 points and 3 out of 7 -3 pointers! For those who does not understand, out of 7 3 points attempts, Stevenson made 3.
This season DeShawn has really improved on his game.

Let's Go Mavs!! Let's Go Mavs!!

By Katrina King

It's Saturday in Dallas, Texas and the Utah Jazz are on the road visiting the Mavs hoping to stop their winning streak. The Dallas Mavericks will try to win 12 in a row against the Utah Jazz tonight at the American Airlines Center.

Tonight, the Mavericks organization pay tribute to the military serrvice men and women who have risk their lives for us making our country safe. For that, Texas Sports Beat along with the Dallas Mavericks say Thank You and Happy Holidays.

Now back to tonights action here at the AAC. It's half time and the Mavericks lead the Utah Jazz 54-42. The all so handsome Utah guard Deron Williams lead his team with 12 points, while the Dirk lead the Mavs bench with 13points.

Although the Mavs its winning streak win with fast breaks and scoring, the rebounding still lacks especially on the offensive boards. DeShawn Stevenson has really evolve this season, shooting the three pointer with confidence. DeShawn spoke on his ability to feel more comfortable and at ease with himself this season.

When he arrive last season during the all-star break with Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood, he was thrown into the Mavericks rotation having to learn on the road during game time with little practice. This year the guys were able to get some summer league action in, lose weight, build up chemistry with the organization and play their game with comfort and ease.

They have a fabulous owner in Mark Cuban who have gone the extra mile making sure the players are comfortable here in Dallas.

Is Rockets center Yao Ming Career Over?

By Katrina King
Photo By: Channing Jemerson, TSB photographer

The Houston Rockets traveled to Dallas without their center Yao Ming who is still bothered by a bruised sore ankle as well as a recently healed broken foot. Since joining the rockets Yao has struggle with injuries preventing him from fully giving his best.

Ming joined the Rocketss after legendary Hakeem Olajawon retired from basketball. Ming really have not given the Rockets organization it's money worth. Yao hates to admit that his basketball playing days are coming to an end, in fact he hasn't spoke about it publically, but those of of in this business tend to know when a player's career is coming to an end.

But if you think about it he can't nor has he played a full season! Unfortunately for both the team organizationa and Yao Ming his days are over.

Cowboys win again! Barbar needs to cut his hair!

By Katrina King

Cowboys win their second game under interim and next Dallas Cowboys head coach, Jason Garrett. Offense was awesome, defense was simply terrific! Did the boys quit playing for former head coach Wade Phillips? Yes they did.. The reinvigorated Cowboys are now playing with a purpose... to keep their jobs! The boss, owner and general manager Jerry
jones, has warned that he will fire eveyone who isn't fired up about winning....period.

That message got everyone's attentions.. So not only are they playing to win, they're palying to stay employed. Interim coach, Jason Garrett is sounding and looking like a head coach. He's consistent with his message on discipline, arriving to meetings no tardies, practice earlier and prompt is mandatory.

Garrett has also encourage the players to think and act like businessmen. I say they need to take ownership or part ownership in the team..After all, it is their team! It's America's team and dag gone the current players need to play like it.

Marion Barber needs to either cut his hair or shorten his dredlocks. Otherwise, another opposing player is going to take him down by his hair!!!

Thank goodness for Kitna's patience in the game. He remain patient for playing time and remain committed and stayed prepared and now his time is here. He's gracious, humble and thankful for the opportunity. Too bad Romo's injury was Kitna's blessing. But these types of situations happen that's why every team have a back-up quarterback. They sit and stay ready waiting on their name to be call. These back-up quarterbacks know exactly what their roles are.

Congratulations!, Kitna. Do your thang..

Mavericks Basketball

I'm watching the Mavs play New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night in New Orleans.  As the cameramen pan the floor  as they keep up with the game , I see owner Mark Cuban sitting one row behind the bench.  Cuban is one chair behind his team!  Wow!! Just how rich is Mr. Cuban?

Caron Butler is back in rotation.  He suffer a minor ailment a couple of weeks ago and has set out.  He's back now.

Roddy Beaubois is still on the injured list.  No estimate date when he'll return.

Former Rockets forward Ariza is playing for the Hornets.

Nowitzki is a born scorer...he gets his points(double figures) in most games.

Coach Rick Carlise favors actor Jim Carey.

Dirk Nowitzki is no punk!  He squabbles with the best of 'em.

Mavs win on the road against the Grizzlies 106-91

By Katrina King

Not too much talk about the Mavericks yet. Still talk about the Rangers and the Cowboys. Soon, and very soon all the buzz will be around Tyson Chandler who finished the night with 11pts and 8 rebounds. Jet led the team in scoring with 25 points on the night, Shawn Marion, 20 pts, Nowitzki had 12 (maybe he was tired) ,and DeShawn Stevenson added his 11points on the night. If Terry continues his excellent play off the bench, he should be given the 6th man award.

The Mavericks are 5-2 at home and 3-0 on the road. Seems the depth of scoring on the bench is slowly showing potential. Coach Carlise have to be creative in distributing and rotating the starting line up. With game winning consistency, coach must stick with the formula that's currently working. Tyson Chandler is the best spark (and Brendon Haywood) the Mavericks have had at the center position. History past, the Mavs centers suck! Hopefully, that era is over.

Coach Carlise likes Chandler's passion for the game. "This guy is becoming one of our heart and soul guys. He really brings a spirit, a toughness and an energy and you know, he was huge tonight, but he has been really important for us all season". Coach Carlise expresses.

After the game for post game interview Mavericks center Tyson Chandler had this to say about the win. " It's huge because we're a team trying to get to that caliber and that's where we want to be. We want to have that kind of mind frame so coming in beating a tough minded like this and withstanding their run in the fourth quarter was huge for us. I'd much rather have a game like this where you grind it out because it builds character instead of a 15 to 20 point blowout."

Wells said, Tyson, however, we want the 15 to 20 point blowout and character..how 'bout that?!

Shaq in street clothes wearing slippers.

By Katrina King

This is Shaq wearing slippers in street clothes cheering for his team from the bench. Mavericks hosted the Boston Celtics at the American Airlines Center on Monday night Nov. 8th. The Mavs played well and again the new center for the Mavericks, Tyson Chandler played well with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Shaquille O'Neal, Boston's newly acquired center, did not play. Not sure if he was injured or he did not play, coaches decision.

Didn't bother Shaq much, he was laughing and talking with his teammates on the bench. I wonder; was his feet hurting?

Team, Take Ownership!!

By: Katrina King

Message to the Dallas Cowboys,

This is your team too! Play like it, damn it! TAKE OWNERSHIP or Jerry's rich ass is going to fire ALL of you !! Just because he can...how 'bout that? He IS NOT playing and being patience anymore. And, you have to give him credit for carefully exercising his patience with his ball players.

This man plays to win and expects his personnel, his employees to share the same vision. The Dallas Cowboys is America's Team. Champions! The organizations culture past has been associated witth winning and lengends. The likes of Roger Staubach, Tom Landry, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson.. Then introduced the new legends in Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, even Deion Sanders in his own right.

Wade Phillips fired, Jason Garrett hired..

By Katrina King

Well...Everyone saw this coming. This is Jerry Jones team! No matter who he brings in as head coach (including interim and next years head coach Jason Garrett). Mr. Jones told his boys that if they aren't serious about winning, they too can go home! Please believe him. He is fed up with the losing! Mr. Jones is a betting man and a betting man is a winning man.

Now that Jason Garrett is the new interim head coach and feels very confident that he will be the next coach of The Dallas Cowboys!.. During his press conference, Garrett spoke with confidence, eager and a readiness to move forward with his team. This is his opportunity.

Mavericks Jason Terry with the Hot Hand!

By: K. King

The Mavericks hosted and lost to the Denver Nuggets at the American Airlines Center Saturday night, coming off a win in Denver. Mavericks guard, Jason Terry scored 23 points in the first half. Ahh, but holdup a minute, Nugget's Carmelo Anthony hands were hotter!

The Mavericks had a nice lead going into the halftime. No worries, I thought, this team is still in the evaluation stage. The centers spot is a concern. While, both Haywood and Chandler are aggressive, they are what I call 'passive-aggressive'......no fire! Tip of the day: Having no fire will get you traded. Overall, they both played decent with decent minutes.

Jason Terry was feeling it early in the first half scoring 23 points! H e spotted up on 3-pointers, made defensive stops, just blisttered Denver, making 9 of 10 of his points. My question is: why can't he perform at this level with consistently? Nowitzki scores double figures every game...I mean he is a natural shooter. When I get an opportunity to talk with J.T. ( I call him J.T.), I'll let you the fans know his answer...stay tuned.

Nuggets head coach George Karl talked about controlling Jason Terry in the 2nd half. "We were just trying to give him more heat. When he was in pick and rolls, we tried to put two on him, and he's so quick it's hard to do that". But somehow, someway, he had some open looks and he just missed. Maybe he got tired a little bit. But, that beginning of the 2nd half was 'wow'. I don't think our defense was that bad and they weren't hitting anything except the bottom of the net-not the rim or anything"!

Mavs newest addition to the center spot..

By Katrina King

Welcome to Dallas, Tyson! That's right, the Mavs new big man is Tyson Chandler, handsome huh, ladies. Chandler, a welcome addition to the Mavericks center spot, the number 5. Acquired by the Mavs from team Charlotte Bobcats aka the Charlotte Hornets (why the name change? who knows why) in a deal package including Erick Dampier, whom I assume is relaxing his knee
(riding the bench), enjoying his family and watching other teams play. "I love him", says Carlise, The guy is, he really had an infectious spirit as a person and a basketball player. He really brings some toughness to our team, particularly our starters because he brings a dynamic athleticism that we haven't had here at that position. Having said that, I thought Haywood did a really good job off the bench. He is being asked to take on a different role than he has ever had. He is out there playing against small lineups and all kinds of weird things and I thought he gave us a presence when Tyson was not in the game".

Chandler and Haywood gives the Mavericks two decent threats in the middle....if both players receive ample minutes along with game consistency, the Mavericks will become a dominated threat in the middle. Yep, indeed.

The big men must be aggressive underneath the basket and grab both offensive and defense boards, they need to develop a lust for it...Defense and offensive win games. Makes no sense to me why these players can not follow their dag gone rebounds!! The Mavericks have always lack in this area and free throw shots.....stay tuned for more..

Mavericks win home opener against the Bobcats

By Katrina King
Photos by: Channing Jemerson

Mavericks started the 2010-11 NBA season, by winning the opener against the Charlotte Bobcats. Fans may see Mavericks forward, Caron Butler have more good scoring games. He appears to be more settle with his teammates versus last season when he was literally thrown in after being acquired last season during the All-Star break from the Washington Wizards.

Butler earned Most Valuable Player in the pre-season game against the Houston Rockets scoring 25 points! Having the chance to bond with his teammates over the summer, summer league workouts as well as training camp, Butler started the season lighter in weight and in sinc with the team. I believe this season with the Mavs fans will see why Butler was acquired.

Yao Ming is Baack!

By Katrina King

Yao Ming was in the Rockets starting lineup against the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center in their last preseason home game. the Mavericks won in a shocking finished with .04 seconds left. Jason Kidd inbounded the ball made the pass to the Matrix as the clock wound down for the ally-op layup, Dallas wins the game. An ugly win with an exciting finish!

That's what the fans want to see!! Pass from Kidd to Marion left the Rockets mouth dropped wide open as if to say what just happen? Why? Because the Rockets lead the game all 4 quarters even after the two minute warning. Then, Nowitzki entered the game being the scorer that he is....did his thang, contributing to the win.

THE RANGERS WIN!!!! Going to the MLB World Series!

By Katrina King

What a year for the Texas Rangers! Who wuold have thought during spring training that the Texas Rangers would be in the World Series, huh? Not me, that's for sure. The Rangers beat the New York Yankees 6-1 to win on Friday night at The Ball Park. 50 years in Rangers history this is truly the first. Team owner and president Nolan Ryan played and retired in a Rangers uniform pitching for the same purpose. But it wasn't his time with the Rangers.

Funny....now team owner Ryan, finally get a chance to go to the World Series with his life sport and his ball club he now owns.. How cool is that?!

Manager, Ron Washington has done well with his ballclub. The guys have great chemistry and camaraderie among one another which mix for a great recipe of great team work as they have shown all season. Washington says in an interview after the game: I'm not gonna change what, I've been preachin'". He goes on to say: I love playing National League Baseball".

Rangers lead ALCS 2-1 Beat Yankees 8-0

By Tina Marie

Game 3 of the American League Championship game. Cliff lee has been awesome since his acquistion to the team.

The Texas Rangers are having the best seson ever in Ranger history this season. Manager Ron Washington and the boys have played great - no- excellent baseball this year. They made baseball fun to watch.....and baseball is not fun to watch. Lee with 13 strike outs! Always the cool calm and collected, Lee pitches the best game of his life. Craig Sager ask Lee afer the game, "If anyone ask you how did you do what would you tell them" Lee replied: "I say I did pretty good.

Lee executed every part of the play called. Lee was all over the place. He threw a pitch, caught it and ran to tag a Yankee out! Lee so good he struck out Derek Jeter, simply man handled him. The Yankee bullpen didn't have a clue.

34 strike outs 1 walk in the post season. Go Rangers! On to the World Series!

Mavs Training Camp Day Three

By Katrina King

University Park- SMU - The Mavs practice looks much the same as previous days before. Coach Carlise is optimistic about his big guys (centers) Alexis Ajinca (pronounced ah-lek-SEE ah-GIN-sa), Tyson Chandler, the return of Brendan Haywood and Ian Mahinmi (pronounced in english Ian or French (Yan).

Newly acquired Tyson Chandler 7-1 center from Dominguez High School in California has been traded 5 times with his last trade being to Dallas. I'll bet by NBA break, he'll be traded a 6th time. Note: In this industry, when a player has been traded many times they are referred to as NBA journeymen.

Returning for his second year with the Mavs is Brendan Haywood another 7 footer, who played better than Erick Dampier last season. Glad to see him back and Damp gone. Damp reminded me of former Maverick Center James Donaldson:) For those of you who rarely get out to the games this season, there will be fan jam on Tuesday October 5th at 7pm at the American Airlines Center (AAC) FREE!

Spoke to President of Basketball Operations and General Manager, Don Nelson who is also the The Texas Legends D-League owner about his upcoming season which starts Nov.30th in Frisco, Texas. He refers to them as the "Mavericks young guns of the NBA". This team is known as one of the development league of the NBA, Mavericks version. He is very excited about the upcoming season. Hometown legend Spud Webb is President of Basketball Operations and my girl Nancy Liberman as the head coach. Nancy is the first female coach to coach an all male basketball team in history. You go girl!

Donnie is excited about the upcoming season with the Mavs, hoping the big guys will relieve some of the pressure off Dirk so he can focus on the forward position and play the center spot down the stretch if needed.

Coach Carlise seems to think that the new guys are picking up the offense fairly well.....well enough to get out and play against each other in a blue and white scrimmage game which is usually held during practice sessions. I pressured Carlise on the offensive rebounding game letting him know that this writers pet peeve is second chance points. He said he would work on offensive boards just for me this season:)

Kidd shares the same enthusiam, as always, about the new season (didn't ask him about his daughter, Cheyenne posing in lingerie...didn't think it was appropriate).

Jason Kidd's 17 year daughter poses in Lingerie!

By Channing Jemerson

According to Media Take Out.com Jason Kidd's 17 year old daughter Cheyenne Kidd says that her dad, Jason Kidd is an absent father and has been most of her life! Now, before I go further, allow me to go on record saying I like Jason regardless.....he is not the only absentee father in the country.

Cheyenne (who is the spitting image of her dad) is older and has begun to show signs that she misses her father being in her life. Apparently, she's acting out posing in lingerie! Next, she'll be posing NUDE!

No father would approve of their daughter posing in lingerie absent or not. I'm sure Cheyenne wants a father, daughter close relationship with her dad and wants him to reach out to her as a father. Jason can't be happy with his daughter with this type of exposure. Being fair and balance, Kidd was not available for comment at the time of this story. It's not too late for father and daughter to build a solid relationship.

Who knew Jason had a 17 year old daughter. Just how many kids does the Mavericks Guard
have? I do know this; he does have a 6 month old not sure if the baby is a boy or girl.

Rangers Josh Hamilton will play Friday?

By Katrina King

Arlington, Tx - Rangers Josh Hamilton is swinging the bat pretty decent and he is optismistic about being in the line up on Friday. Not surprising, most injured players are anxious to get back in the line up regardless of their injuries, especially in games such as these.

Washington, Rangers manager, wants the slugger back too. Hamilton has been sideline with two bone fractures in his right rib cage. Slowly migrating back into the line up, Hamilton must begin taking live pitches on Thursday if he and Wash expect him to be in Friday night lineup.

Cowboys Dez Bryant stuck with a $54,000 dinner bill!

By Tina Marie (Dallas)

Dez, you should have carried Roy Williams shoulder pads for free. Roy got you good! I don't know of any rookie who was hit deep in the pockets for not carrying shoulder pads. I'm willing to bet that whatever the young rookie is ask to do from now on, he'll do it. Both Dez Bryant and Roy williams were not available for comment, that's okay, really don't need their comment the bill spoke volumes!

$54,000.00 that's a yearly salary for someone, especially with the way the job market and the economy is today. WOW!!! 54k for food and drinks. Now the whole world knows about Dez Bryant and what his ego got him into.

Dez, you are a rookie, rookies do stuff they don't want to do.....it is tradition! If you didn't know, now you do. The entire world laughs at you!

Dallas Mavericks Training Camp begins today.

By Katrina King

Wow....another season begins and the Mavs team players are excited about another the season and returning players as well as the new players. Dominique Jones is a favorite to watch. Coach Rick Carlise said: "He's a real hard worker and will fit in the offensive well". Coach Carlise feels with the height and the depth that the new players along with the new acquired players will be a good chemistry mix. " They will find a way to fit in naturally with the rest of our personnel, so we're excited". We are a better team ( so he seems to think)than last season.

On offensive boards: The Mavericks have had a poor history of getting the offensive boards. they are mnot known for their offensive rebounds. When Carlise is asked about the offensive boards his comments are vague.....he seems to think that it may be a conflict with the 2 and 3 forward

Coach Carlise is sporting a new hair cut for the season, actually it's very becoming on him. I wonder if he was wearing a toupee before. Anyway, back to the game....Mavericks will be conducting two a days for the first 2 days of training camp. So far, coach likes what he sees. Wants to be more focus on the offensive game this season. I asked about offensive rebounding and how can the Mavs incorporate that in the game plan during practice.

Houston Texans (2-1) Lose to the Cowboys (1-2)

By Katrina King

They didn't even have the defense to keep them in the game and they - the Texans- were pick to win the game by 3. They entered the game sluggish although Andre Johnson was seemingly shut down early in the first half with an ankle injury (7-4-64) 7 attempts, 4 catches 64 yards.. They scored a field goal in the first quarter, yet showed signs of sluggishness. The Texans have won 6 stright games coming off last season performance against the Cowboys.

Cowboys #94DeMarcus Ware had 3 sacks in the game. He too, needed to show up in todays game....and he did putting constant pressure on Texans quarter back Matt Leinart. Matt Leinart scored in the fourth for the Texans with a 1:15 left to play.

Wade Phillips tied his fathers(Bum Phillips) record for wins against a Houston team. His dad was head coachof the Houston Oilers. He retired in 1985 and resides in Texas. Proud to see his son and grandson (Wes Phillips, coordinator for the Cowboys).

Dallas intercepts the ball with :44 left in the game by #40 and get the ball back and began to snap it....meaning with seconds left in the game and leading the game by a good percentage - they do not have to call a play.

The Cowboys win 26-13

What's gotten into Roy Williams?! The Runnin' Game.

By Katrina King

Two touch downs in Sundays game against the Texans. Romo's happy, Wade is happy, Mr. Jones is happy and the rest of the Cowboy organization. This is the best the Cowboys have played since the season began. Roy w. had 5 catches and 2 touchdowns. What on earth has gotten into #11 ? I'll tell you what I think....Roy wants to keep his job....not onlyy that he wants to show that he still can play this game. So, he's working hard.

Wait, I am going to say something about the Houston Texans but there is too much to say about the Cowboys. "From the end of the first quarter on Dallas has pretty much dominated this game", said Joe Buck, NFL Commentator Fox Sports.

Marion Barber, Felix Jones weren't bad. When Barber is on a roll you would think the Cowboys would feed him the ball and let him run until Houston makes a stop. The was a MUST WIN game for the Cowboys.

Keith Brooking Make Plays for Cowboys!

By Tina Marie

Houston, Texas.......Dallas opened up the third quarter with an interception by # and a touch down by #11 roy Williams. Romo shows signs of finding his mojo, he gets his first touchdown of the 2010 season. As I said in an earlier blog.....it is possible for the Cowboys to have good game despite the 0-3 season openers.
As a sportswriter, I'm always looking for women to participate in sports in terms of reading and watching the game. I notice on the Cowboys webpage chat forum, there are plenty women chattin' about the plays and players regarding the game.

Keith Brooking made a couple of offensive plays for the Cowboys aiding in putting the Cowboys in scoringn positions. The Texans struggle most of the game with their offensive plays........and I had the audacity to pick the Texans to win.....going against my home team. I will never go against the home team again. Cowboys lead 17-6 in the 4th quarter.

My colleague, Pam Oliver is on the scene doing sideline reports. You go girl!!!
The official had multiple plays in the game. It must be new. He had to say" excuse me a minute". At some point didn't know what he was talking about.......sounds like the referee is a newbie to the league. The entire stadium began to laugh at his uncertainity calling the game.

Cowboys vs. Texans.....Cowboys need runnin' game

By Tina Marie

The Cowboys face the Houston Texans this Sunday (Sept. 26, 2010) high noon in Houston, Texas at the Reliant Stadium.. Cowboys (0-3), Texans(2-0) have won two in a row and are the pick to win this game by 3. They're 10-3 against the NFC, including 1-0 this season, over the last four years.

The Cowboys offensive game has been awful in their previous games. The players always say whether it's football or basketball "I just run the plays called by coach". So if this is true why wont the offensive coordinator call running plays. The boys want to run! No matter, if the Cowboys don't break out spectacular plays, Texans will shut them down anyway.

Here is what Romo had to say: "It's difficult because we need to getmore out of what we're trying to do," he said. " I'm not sure exactly the statistics but when you run the ball and run successfully, it makes everything a lot easier".

As my Houston colleague and fellow blogger, John McClain said: " This game will be won in the air". I pick the Texans to win.

MAVERICKS SIGN FORWARD STEVE NOVAK

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have signed forward Steve Novak. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Novak (6-10, 230) joins the Mavericks as a free agent from the Los Angeles Clippers where he spent the past two NBA seasons. He holds career averages of 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and 10.1 minutes in 195 career games with four starts.

Originally a second round draft pick (32nd overall) of the Houston Rockets in 2006, Novak played two seasons in Houston before being traded to the Clippers. In 2008-09, his first season with Los Angeles, Novak enjoyed a career year where he averaged 6.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 16.4 minutes while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor and 91.3 percent from the free throw line.

Novak played his collegiate career at Marquette University. As a freshman, he saw action in 33 games and was a member of the Golden Eagles’ 2003 Final Four team along with current NBA players Dwyane Wade and Travis Diener. As a senior, Novak led Marquette averaging a team-high 17.5 points a game while shooting 97.5 percent from the foul line.

A native of Brown Deer, Wis., Novak played high school basketball for his father, Michael, and was named the 2002 Wisconsin Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

Texas Legends acquire Fourth Pick in NBA D-League Draft

September 23, 2010, FRISCO, TX -

First to my reades who are not familiar with the Texas Legends. Texas Legends is a developmental basketball league in Frisco, Texas.. President of the Texas Legends Basketball operations is former NBA all-star Spud Webb, a Dallas native.

I haven't written or said much about the Legends, however, as I begin to see more and more activity coming from the Texas Legends camp has sparked my attentions.

Here is the latest: The Legends received the fourth pick in the 2010 Development League Draft via a lottery at the D-League’s annual coaches’ meeting in Dallas earlier this week.

The Legends will use the draft to add to their inaugural roster on Nov. 1.

“The fourth pick is a great spot to be in the D-League draft format,” Legends President of Basketball Operations Spud Webb commented. “We will have an opportunity to get an exceptional player in the first round, and yet there will still be very good talent for us in the second round with the 13th selection.”

The draft flows in a “snake” format, such that the draft order of the 16 teams flips in each round. Thus, the Legends will have the fourth pick in the first round, and the 13th pick in the second, and so on throughout eight rounds of the draft.

"The lottery is always an exciting time because it signals the tip-off a new NBA D-League season,” said Chris Alpert, Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel for the NBA D-League. “With the Draft order in place, teams are one step closer to determining their opening day rosters for the 2010-11 season."

Greenberg-Ryan New Owners of The Texas Rangers

By Katrina King

Negotiations went into the early morning hours (Thursday 8/5/10) Nolan Ryan and the Ryan Group consisting of Chuck Greenberg and his ace in the hole, top backers Fort Worth's XTO Energy founder Bob Simpson and Dallas pipeline billionaire Ray Davis manage to dig deep, deeper, deepest in their pockets to pull off the purchase of the American League West leader (the Rangers) from Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban and Houston investor Jim Crane.
A Dallas bankruptcy judge approved the teams reorganization plan, which include the sale of the Rangers to Ryan-Greenberg with their promise to pay off debts owed by the Rangers to former player Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) and others who are still receiving deferred compensations. The winning bid: $593 million. Will someone please tell me where in the hell people get this can of money to play with? Did Mark Cuban really need another sports franchise to own?
Cuban said on his e-mail and blog: "All this came together in less than three weeks. It's not easy putting together $600 millions dollar deal in that period of time. Jim Crane was a great partner and we had a lot of really smart people that worked hard just to pull together what we did. But we had a limit on what we could spend."

Texas Rangers lose to the Boston Redsox 3-1

By Katrina King

The Rangers loses to the Redsox tonight 3-1. The Rangers will have to force themselves to be patient in tomorrows night (Sunday 8/15) finale against the Redsox. It will be interested to see what Rangers manager Ron (Wash) Washington will do in terms of Rangers line up and starting pitchers. Will he go with probable pitcher C. J. Wilson against Redsox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka? Matsuzaka, known as "Dice-K" born in Tokyo, Japan throws and bats right handed. On the other hand C.J.Wilson Bats/Throws let handed. So it will be the right hand pitcher (Matsuzaka) against the left hand pitcher (C.J. wilson) pitching tomorrow night at The Ballpark in Arlington. It will certainly be a HOT Sunday afternoon. First pitch is at 2:05pm.

By K. King

Dallas - with the NBA draft behind now, the concentration is on free agency. Most NBA teams have signed veteran players who were free agents at the end of the season either stayed with their current team or move around to another team. As of this blog time, LeBron James still have not anoounce which way he'll go. WIll he stay with the Cavalies or move around? His announcement will come 8pm central time on ESPN. Is this LBJ's ego at work? come on now...making an announcemnet on ESPN (hoopla) whose idea was that?

Anyway, it the NBA summer league going for the next two weeks. Dallas Mavericks draft pick Dominique Jones show promising signs that he and Roddy Beabouis will work well together at the #1 and #2 spot. Other players that were in the NBA pool, former and present, also were participating in the Mavs summer league showing coaches, especially coach "Monty" Matthews whose the summer league coach for the Mavs what they are working with.

Nowitzki resigns for 5 year deal worth more millions!

By K. King

Good news for the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk stays with the Mavericks for another 5 years worth 70 million dollars, exactly how many zeros are in that number? Good for the Mavs beccause Dirk is the cornerstone of the Mavs, this is Dirk's team. That's what Josh Howard use to say...He would never say it out loud and never to the media for them (us) to print or blog about negatively. Glad to see owner Mark Cuban dug deep inhis pocket to keep Dirk. More to come, stay tune.

OMG!!! Mavs Nowitzki Opt Out!

By K. King (Dallas -AP)

“He is our No. 1 priority—period,” Nelson said. OMG! Dirk Nowitzki decides to become a free-agent opting out his 5th year with the Mavericks. Presidnet and general manager, Donnie Nelson will travel to Germany this Thursday (June 26, 2010) to visit Dirk begging him to stay with the Mavs. Nowitzki have been the cornerstone of the franchise during his entire career with the Mavericks. I'm willing to bet if/when Dirk leaves the Mavs winning percentage will go down, down, down.

Good luck Donnie...hope you're able to change his mind.

Yao Ming returns to the Rockets

HOUSTON (AP)

According to the Houston Rockets, Yao Ming will exercise his option to return to the Rockets after sitting out a year with a foot injury. The 7-foot-6 All-Star center who said last Tuesday that he has picked up his player option for next season, the last year of his five-year contract. Yao sat out last season following reconstructive foot surgery and said he wanted to see how the injury healed before making his decision. Apparently, his foot has healed as expected.

Yao resumes basketball activities and hopes to be near 100 percent when training camp begins. “To miss one year is a long time,” Yao said. “I’ve never been in this situation before, and I’m getting as much information as I can about my foot, to see what’s the best for me and best for the Rockets. I decided a couple of days ago, and there’s no one better than the Rockets now.”

The question is will he get playing time? I doubt it.

By K. King

Despite on-going bankruptcy proceedings, Texas Rangers won its 10th straight game on Wednesday in a 13-3 overwhelming defeat over the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Texas Rangers ball club are on a roll winning games, the win against Pittsburgh is win #10 for the Rangers. While Josh Hamilton rested and watched from the ball pen, Michael Young hit a homer early in the game giving the Rangers a early edge.

One through nine [we're contributing]," outfielder Josh Hamilton said after the Rangers' win on Tuesday night. "Even the pitchers picked up some slack on the road. They did a good job at the plate and on the mound. We're a team right now. That's a good place to be." The Rangers are as hot as the triple digit weather in Texas!

Game 7 Rivalry Celtics v. Lakers in L.A.

By K. King

Lakers, Ron Artest is aggressive on both defence and offense. Not only has his steals help keep the Lakers afloat, so has his scoring. In the first quarter the Lakers have several offensive rebounds.....in the first quarter! Both teams are pusing the rock. Boston coach Doc Rivers says, "you gotta move the rock. Keep the rock moving".

Phil Jackson tells his team in a time out huddle to "push the ball!". Fans are hyped in The Staples Center in Hollywood. the crowd is in sinc, loud and rowdy. Kobe as always get to the foul line and make the shots. But let me tell you something about Kobe Bryant...This week during the press conference he has been a real ass-hole to reporters. When Kobe was asked a question, he answered with sarcasm along with one liners. Some reporters shied away from asking questions, because of his attitude, some pressed on. His non-verbal demeanor was very clear conveying the message he didn't wont to be bothered.

Former Mavericks Coach Avery Johnson has a new coaching gig.

By Katrina King

I just heard from a very reliable source that former Dallas Mavericks coach Avery Johnson is going to be coaching "the worst team in the NBA" - Channel 8 George Riba says, he will be coaching the New Jersey Nets. Good opportunity for Avery to showcase his coaching skills by transforming a losing team into a .500 team. If anyone can do it, coach can. Stay tune, TSB will keep its ear to the ground on this developing story.

Rangers close out with a "W"

By Katrina King

The Rangers close out their home stand tonight against the Mariners. Texas had 3 bif endings, Michael Young hit a home run winning 12 to 3. Too early in the season if the Rangers will continue this style of play.

Where's Michael Finley?

By Katrina King

Michael Finley was traded to the Celtics during the NBA All-Star break in February 2010, seemingly, the decision was a good one and still is. Not taking anything away from his trade, however, he hasn't didn't receive much playing time during regular season after the trade and since playoffs, he hasn't played at all! I
inquiry minds, such as mine, want to find out why? Stay tuned.

VH1 Basketball Wives is a Hot Mess!

By Katrina King

First all, there is only one wife on the show and that's Jennifer, the dark skinned young lady married to Eric Williams, a former NBA player. I say former, because I haven't seen him in action, have yall? Jennifer is conflicted and confused about staqying her marriage to a husband who is openly blantant about is infedelity. " I don't knowwhat to do" Jennifer confers to Evelyn, eho eas once engaged to Antwoine Walker or was in a 10 year relationship with him.

I'll say why Jennifer chooses to stay, one it apperas she has no confidence in herself although cute, she lacks self esteem. She doesn't appear to have any skills that will enable her to work or do something productive with her life other than chase her ugly horse mouth husband Erick Williams around. She's confused because she doesn't wont to part from any money left over from his basketball career.

Royce, who is not a wife, (why she's on the show, I can't figure, royce is a groupie dancer. Her dancing says alot about her motives and character. Gloria, the fiance of Matt Barnes of the Orlando Magic said to her "you will never be a wife or wear a ring."

Evelyn is still heart broken and bitter over the split between she and Antwoine Walker and I don't know who the hell is Suzy. Shag's estrange wife, apparently, the divorce isn't final yet, make a few appearances to catch up on what has been happenin' with the ladies. Stay tune to VH1 line up and see who will resigne another season.

Celtics Paul Pierce hated the Celtics

By Katrina King

"It's the eighties all over the game" Celtics Pierce says. He grew up in California in walking distance from his high school to the Forum. He was a Lakers fan and hated the Celtics. He now finds himself in an position henever thought he would be in Lakers vs. Celtics NBA Finals. Knowing the history and the rivalry between the two teams, he finds too, that history repeats itself. Pierce says he loves being a Boston Celtic.

NBA finals 2010 Game 2, LA leads series 1-0

By Katrina King

Who will win tonight? Before tip off, Kareem Abdul Jabaar and Bill Walton honor former coach John Wooten (1910-2010), both former players said brief remarks and then there was a few moments silence. 2010 American Idol winner, what's his name?, sang the American Anthem.

Game 2 West versus East, History repeats itself featuring the Los Angeles Lakers and the Eastern conference winners, Boston Celtics. The starting line up is much the same as in game one. In game one, Lakers dominated the game and left the building with the "W" 102-89.

This is the finals baby! The fans at the Staples Center will be on fire tonight! plenty of action and celebrities at the Staples tonight. As you watch the game tonight and as the cameras pan around the gym check out who you see in the audience. I wonder if the cameras will be on Khloe and Kim Kardashsian tonight? We all know Kim is now Khloe's new BFF. I remeber when the show first started it was all about Kim and her selfish ways. Khloe was the ugly duckling, remember? She was ncken arrest, and cursed like a sailor. Even Khloe didn't like herself much. Seems overnight, the ukly duckling turned into a beautiful swann.. Her sister, Kim's image and character has been tarnished based on whorish decisions she has made.

Oh my, I forgot, i'm blogggin' about history repeating itself between Celtics and Lakers 2010 NBA Finals. Another thing, no one was paying atrtention to Lamr Odom until he married a Kardashian. Wonder if the mom, Chris, whose married to former gold medalist sprinter, Bruce Jenner, raising her daughters to become GOLD DIGGERS?.

Texas Rangers beat Royals 4-2

By K.K

T.G.I.F and what a way to start the weekend, go take your girl or guy for dinner and to the Rangers game. What a beautiful night at the Ball Park in Arlington. This was an entertaining game, a pitchers dual....what a great win for the Rangers tonight! CJ Wilson starts for the Ranger at pitcher.

Entertainment and baseball just don't mix, sometimes, rarely is it this much fun at a MLB game, usually baseball is boring to watch, unless, you are a true baseball fan.. BUT, this game, this game here, only lasted 2:09, the shortest game in Rangers history was an exciting baseball game...the boys played ball tonight!!

The bullpen really needs the night off. Fans are flocking to the retail stores after the game or between innings to purchase a C.J. Wilson jersey. The lighting on the ball field is incredibally b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l on this Spring night,

When was the last time a Ranger won a Cy Young Award?

Mavericks MUST win in San Antonino

By Katrina King

The Dallas Mavericks must get a win in the Alamo City tonight in game 6. It's imperative...they must come out strong on defense and offense. A good friend of mine and former coach, Bob Ortegal always say you have to run and shoot the ball and defend and rebound to win ballgames.
The Mavs need to do just that to win game 6 and bring the game back to Dallas on Saturday night.. If not, they go home.
Mavericks guard Caron Butler had this to say; "We came out and did a great job on both ends of the floor. We protected the paint, got stops and get out to our fast breaks."
In game 5 against the Spurs, Butler scored a season high 35 points, he took charge of the game and carried the team on his back. He spoke on his offensive game, " I was just aggressive at all times; I wasn't second guessing myself so if the shot was there I was taking it. Jason Kidd and all of my teammates did a great job of finding me in rhythm, our backs are against the wall and we don't want to go home yet".

Thanks God, Coach C started Brendan Haywood instead of Erick Dampier. The line up produce a win, although Coach Carlise played it down a little bit. " We've had leads in previous games, so it is not like the lineups we used in previous games were necessarily bad or anything like that. It just seemed like the right time to make this move. It is a little bit different kind of player. Coach Carlise goes on to say, " Damp has been giving us great defense and rebounding and stuff. Brendan (Haywood) is just a little bit different type of player and I thought he responded well. When I talk to Damp about the decision, he was great. He is going to be ready. I thought long and hard about it. Damp has been such an important part here and we are going to continue to need him. He just said hey I'm ready. So it was great. I thought Haywood responded well to the opportunity. Hey, going back down there, the environment is going to be a lot different. We have our work cut out for us".

Rangers take on the Chicago White Sox

By Katrina King

The Rangers(10-11) take on the Chicago White Sox(8-13), this hot afternoon at the Ballpark in Arlington.. Actually it's about 78 degrees. But when you're in the sun it feels hotter. Fans are out enjoying the game on this sunny spring day. Families, babies, toddlers, grandmother and granddad. In fact, as I was parking , I glanced over at an elderly couple driving their Gran Torino and lowering a Rove Around wheelchair from their vehicle. I've often wondered, how on earth are all theses fans off from work. Most of the fans, I've seen so far, appears to retired.
I'm high above the home plate a great view. In the my presence is legendary Nolan Ryan, he's chatting with other media personnel and enjoying the view from the press box. A small group of 10-12 people stop by on a tour and say hello to the hall of famer. He's asking questions and making jokes. One student remembers him throwing a no hitter on her birthday. "You threw a no-hitter on my birthday" the fans says. Mr Ryan asked: "When is your birthday?" She answered June 11th."He is gracious to them and is happy to accomodate ALL of their wishes..
The Ranges will play 9 innings this afoernoon against the White Sox. Seeking three straight wins, the Rangers have already secured a winning record at home. With a team win today, the Rangers could match longest win streak of the season. #12 Justin Smoak, hits a home run for the home team. At the end of the fourth Texas 3, Chi White Sox 1.

Listen up ladies....baseball is not just for the men.. A good way to keep your significant other interested try watching and learning about sports in the Southwest.
Wont get a chance to talk with Rangers manager, Ron Washington, must leave early today. The Rangers are off to a good start, a home room was scored by Rangers #39Julio Borbon, out fielder. Rangers have 2 home runs in the third inning, 2 out.

The fans are taking home more souvinir balls foul balls so far a good 7 foul balls have gone into the stands.

Dampier fine $35,000!

By Katrina King

That's right, quiet, meek Erick Dampier was fined by the National Basketball Association $35,000.00 for speaking his mind and commenting on the officiating in game 5 of the Western Conference series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Game 6 Mavs Must Win or Go Home!!!

By Katrina King

The Mavericks are home hosting the San Antonio Spurs in game 6. Mavs must win the next 3 games to win the series against the Spurs. Fans questions coach Carlise method in rotating the players. Caron Butler has the hot hands with 35 points tonight against the Spurs. " They needed someone else to step up instead of it being Dirk" Cedric Bailey said.

Mavs just may win game 6 at home, yet, they go on the road to the San Antonio. They MUST get a win in the Alamo city.

Spurs lead series 3 games to 1

By Katrina King

The Dallas Mavericks return home to Dallas on Tuesday to face the San Antonio Spurs for Game 5. Spurs lead the series 3-1. Looks like the Mavs are going home early. Even if they win at home on Tuesday night, Spurs is still up by three wins. A strong possibility that the Mavs will be swept in game 5.

WIN or GO HOME

By Katrina King

Mavs have got to win tonight in San Antonio if they have hopes on winning this series.. The intensity in the building is awesome! The series is tied 1-1.

Spurs host the Mavs in San Antonio tonight. Spurs have lead the game for both quarters before the half, Dallas stays close. J.J. Barea came off he bemch to give the Mavs a spark off the bench. Caron Butler not as effective in game 3...hmmm.

Manu Ginobili was cut on his nose by Nowitzkis' elbow...ouch!! Mani had to go to the locker room, ESPN's Heather Cox reports that his nose was bleeding perfusely and may be broken. Unlikely, he'll return to the game tonight.

Jason Kidd scored his first field goal of the game in the 3rd quarter. Where has he been?

Dallas Cowboys pick Dez Bryant in NFL Draft

By K. King

In the 20101 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys pick Dez Bryant from Oklahoma, a wide out in the second round.

"When I fell to the Cowboys, that's the best thing that ever happened to me," he said. "I'm so happy I got picked and it doesn't matter where I got picked. I'm excited and I'm ready to go to work." says Dez Bryant, the Lufkin, Texas, native.
The Cowboys ,traded up three picks in Thursday's first round of the NFL Draft - from No. 27 to No. 24 - to grab the gifted, embattled Oklahoma State wide out who watched his stock drop over the past months.
Cowboys owner and general manager believes in giving talented and sometimes trouble youth (not saying that Dez Bryant is a trouble youth, however he does come from a disadvantage childhood), a chance of a lifetime. Bryant will be wearing number 88 this season, a jersey Hall of Fame's Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin wore. When a reporter asked Dez about the history of the number and its significance he didn't have a clue. Did not know to much about Drew Pearson playing days and was familiar with Michael Irvin. When Drew Pearson played for the Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant probably wasn't born yet. When Michael Irvin played for the Cowboys, Dez Bryant was probably a toddler or playing little league football.
Anyway, the fans will definitely see this season just how well Dez Bryant will perform.

Spurs beat Mavs in game 2 of NBA Playoffs

By K. King

Well, I hate to said it, but the Spurs blew out the Mavs by 14 points, 102-88 on Mavs home court in the American Airline Center. The Spurs must have watch films of game 1 all night and all morning before game 2 tip-off time. The Spurs started the game strong, holding the Mavs to 36% shooting. Spurs held the lead the entire game. Tim duncan finished with 25 pts, Manu Ginobili, 23 pts.
Dirk finished with 24 points, Jason Terry had 27 points, and Caron Butler finished with 17 points. Rookie Rodrigue Beaubois did not play, Coach Carlisle decision. Coach needs to let the rookie play perhaps he could've help the Mavs win.
Game 3 is in San Antonio Friday night at the AT&T Center.

2010 Western Conference NBA Playoffs, Baby!!!!

K.King
This is the Play-offs baby!!! The Atmosphere is electric and the adrenaline is pumping. Dallas is in the playoffs again this year. " We hope to win the The Dallas Mavericks play host to the San Antonio Spurs in the 1st of 7 games in the Western Conference playoffs. Dallas has made 10 straight playoffs appearance, however, the opportunity to advance to the second round has always been a challenge for the Mavs.
Dirk Nowitzki has had trouble in the playoffs, it seems teams plan their game plan around him. Now with the addition of Caron Butler and Brandan Haywood, the Spurs will have to focus their attention on the Butler, Haywood, in addition to Nowitzki.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010

Coach Popovich it's time to rebuild

Well, the Spurs have lost their competitive nature...maybe that's a bit exageratted, However, they have not done well this year in regular season, they are holding down the 7 seed in the western conference. Can't stay on top all the time, every team, even the sorriest team can rise to the top and win the championship. Tony Parker is appears to be nothing without Tim Duncan.
duncan did not play in the game against the Mavs neither did Manu Ginobili. Maybe caoch is resting them for the playoff run.

Last regular season home game

Mavericks host the San Antonio Spurs tonight in the American Airline Center. Both teams last regular season game. Dallas holds the number 2 spot in the Western conference. San Antonio holds the 7th spot in the west behind the Lakers and the Mavs. As press we have sit high and look low. Pretty much like our own private suite. We see all the cute stuff the networks don't share. Such as skits among the Mavs players to entertain the fans. It's playoff atmguosphere in the Arena tonight!
the crowd is on fire!. Jason "The Jet" is off to a great start.

This guy from grand rapids michigan is trying to shoot for a milian dollars. He didn't make it.. Not even close. Back to the game. I'm writing tonight Live from the game. So far the Mavs are leading the Spurs by 7 points. 69-62. in the 3rd quarter. This game is a defense game.

Side bar: The Mavs Mania Dancers All male are so funny. Espeically that little midget. He is really funny, out there dancing with the big boys. I know I'm all over the place in this blog. I'm just blogging about what is happening at the game.

We're Back!

By, K. King

OMG!, March was a crazy month, April is looking good for business. I was under the impression I'd lost my blog during the computer sweep. Computer had viruses that had to be removed and replaced with different security software. You know the drill.. TSB had an issue with a contractor whom I caught doing some sneaky maneuvering on my web site, basically, taking it and running with it. What did I learn? Be careful who you share your ideas with or bring on board to your company. Making a long story short, because of him, TSB former web developer and some unfounded reason, he remove the web site from the web. To this date, he hasn't given me a clear reason why. I feel it's because he no longer had access to the games. Anyway, TSB is back! Back to bring the fans inside information..I missed you guys.. Had I known TSB blog was still strong as I've just found out minutes ago, TSB would have never left the airwaves. IT'S PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!

When asked about new Rangers GM Nolan Ryan: "It took him aback at first, but when he finally spoke, he said Wash we love you and we'll get through this".

Magic beat the Spurs 110-84

By K.King

Spurs acquired Richard Jefferson during the trade weekend back in February. Jefferson has made an impact on the team since the trade. This couldn't have come at a better time. Jefferson led the Spurs with 20 points in their loss against Dwighrt howard and the Orlando Magic.

Lately the Spurs have lost their fizzle. Spurs center, Tim Duncan and guard Tony Parker aren't as effective as they once were. Once an elite team in the Western Conference, the Spurs hay day is fading into the sunset, for now. You see, each team has its day. The team that was once on the bottom is now on top.

It's not likely that the Spurs will go far in the playoffs, if they make it. Sure they will....I think. Gotta check the standings and I'll blog about it. Now, Genoa Manoboli is the spark of the Spurs now, he plays hard every game, not saying the other guys doesn't, but Manoboli's playing with heart. Seems like he's trying to carry the Spurs on his back, he's getting old though, as well as spurs big man, Tim Duncan. Guard Tony Parker can't function well without Duncan in the game.

Michael Finley was traded. I'm told that he ask for a trade due to his lack of minutes. What makes Mike think, he'll go somewhere else and get playing time? Finley is getting old too.

Rockets beat the Memphis Grizzlies 107-94

Rockets guard, Aaron Brooks was in a zone! Brooks led the Rockets with 31 points, teammate Scola added 20 points for the win of 107-94. For Memphis Grizzlies, Z.Randolph finished with 30 points just wasn't enough to hold off the Rockets. Ariza haad a decent game, seemed to be risking and chancing shots, I'm sure coach isn't to happy about the risky dicision making Ariza is making on the floor.
The Rockets committed 21 turnovers in tonight to Memphis 14. Work is still needed on contorlling and monitoring the turn over ratios...not good.

St.Patricks Day Game Mavs beat Bulls 113-106

Jason Terry back for the Mavs returning from a nose injury suffered in a game against the Minnesota T-Wolves. Rookie Roddy Beaubois has a great game. Boy, if you turn this young guy a loose, he will ball hog and score! Erick Dampier received the "shot of the game" Rick Carlise said Jason 'JT' Terry did well returning back to play. "Conditioning will be an important factor in his game." Coach Carlise said he was happy with Terry's play overall. "He's a factor on the floor even when he's not scoring".

Mavs beat the Chicago Bulls, 113-106. Up next the best team in the East Boston Celtics.

Knickerbockers stop the Mavs Win Streak at 13

By K. King

Well.......all good things must come to an end and the Mavs winning streak was halted by the NY Knicks. Mavs tried to make it 14 in a row and boy let me tell you they were on a Run! Don't get it twisted, the loss against the Knicks means little. THy haven't damage their position in the standings, the Mavs will still earn a playoff berth which is upon us in a couple of weeks. Upnext: Chicago Bulls on St. Patricks Day and the best team in the Eastern conference, the Boston Celtics.

Jason Terry Nose Injury

Mavs gusrd Jason Terry Surgery was a success to repair facial iknjuries sustained in the game against Minnesota. Dr. Neil Williams of Dallas performed the surgery.

I didn't realize what happen during the game. When I went in the locker-room, Sara Melton, Mavs media director, said "Sorry guys, Jason is bang up pretty bad. He won't be talking tonight". When she said this I turd to Mavericks guard Jason Terry who was analyzing his nose injury. Terry is expected to be out for 10-14 days and is expectd to make a full recovery.

10 wins in a row since trade.

K.King

Mavs guard, Jason Terry out with a broken nose he suffered in the game against the Minnesota T-Wolves, but, that didn't slow down the Mavericks from winning their 10th game. The rookie Roddy Beaubois step up his game up with 20 points his first this season as a Maverick.. Terry is expected to be out 6 to 10 weeks.

Mavs win 7 straight games Mavs vs. Hornets

By K. King
For the first time in Mavs history have they won 7 straight games in a row.. Mavs hosted the New Orleans Hornets tonight at the American Airlines Center. Hornets guard Chris Paul did not play coaches decision.

During tonight's game, Jason Kidd moved into fourth all time leader in steals list. He finished the game with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Dirk Nowitzki scored a game-high 36 points, his 15th 30-point game of the season. Dirk always get his points.. The only Maverick to score in double digits each game.
Caron Butler, returned to the starting line-up after he missed two games with a reaction from a medicine. Mo specifics given...nor did I pressed for an answer. He finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assists and 4 steals...

Dallas has won 7 straight games for the longest winning streak with 5 straight at home. After the game, I spoke with coach Carlisle regarding 7 wins in a row thisis what coach had to say:"It's good. We played a great first half. Third, quarter, got shaky with turnovers but we hung on. It's a good win against a good team". On Caron Butler, "Thought he looked good. Made the big defensive play and I thought what I really like is he's playing both ends of the floor. Offensively, he's real consistent and gets good looks. Our guys are getting a good feel as to where and when to deliver the ball. Defensively, he battles and stays and stays within the system. When he's in a position to make a play, he does. Like he did on that last play where he goes down and Haywood follows it in. Good to see him back out there. It really helps our rotation."

Mavs win 6 in a row! Mavs beat Hawks 111-103 in OT

By K.K

Mavs beat the Atlanta Hawks (score), 6 in a row!!! Do you believe it.. Pinch yourself for now. Jason Kidd did his thing along with Jet and Dirk. Caron Butler still not play due to an allergic reaction to some medicine coach Rick Carlise said " he took a couple of days ago. DeShawn Stevenson got the guard start tonight. Jason played an outstanding game "one for the ages" Coach Rick Carlisle said.

Kidds triple double - 19 points, 16 rebounds, and 17 assists was simply amazing!!!

Mavs are playing with enthusiam and energy. Since the acqusition of the new players the team spirit is high. The guys are having fun, kidding around in the lockerroom joking with the media...not giving us a hard time, which is what they do when they lose.

Mavs Beat L.A....101-96

by K.K
Mavericks beat the Lakers in front of a sell out crowd of 20,505. Jay-Z and Beyonce' were among the attendance in the crowd. Jay-Z was in concert Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center. I sat on the floor, literally taking pictures, and a Laker ran out of bound, step on my left leg, my shin. Ouch!!!I was sore the rest of the night..I Love It!!!!

Caron Butler did not play in the win against the Lakers, he suffered from an allergic reaction to medicine....but the Mavs didn't him Dirk Nowitzki scored 31, Jason J.T. Terry put up 30 points leading the Mavericks to a much needed win against Kobe and the Lakers.

Mavs new center, Brendan Haywood had 3 block shots and 4 offensive rebounds, the most any Mavericks has had in Maverick History. The teams defensive mind set seem to have changed since the acquisition of the trade.. Pre trade, the team seem to have lost their fizzle, coach Rick Carlise, couldn't figure it out only tosay that "it's up the players to change their minsdset." coach Carlise said. "They do what to do some how I've got to try to get them to change their mindset".

Shawn Marion said the their mindset has always been there. "We lost our fizzle along the way first half of the season, now we're back". He agree that the new acquisition has made the difference. Fans can count on Dirk to score 25 30 points a game, against the Lakers he scored 31 pts. Kobe was held to 20 points, Mavs defensive stops paid off well holding the Lakers to under 50% shooting of the night.

Finally...The Mavs have a new Center..Brendan Haywood

That's right...finally the Dallas Mavericks has a center who is not afraid to get beat up in the middle. Mavs haven't had a explosive center since Roy Tarpley in the eighties. With the acquisition of Brendan Haywood nand the talents he possessed, the Mavericks may get past the first round. I spoke to Brandon tonight and we talked about his being a Dallas Maverick and about tonights game. "We had to fight and scrap tonight to get the win and the back-to-back kind caught up with us early and we didn't have the energy we need in the first half. "It's definitely crazy on where I was a few weeks ago to where I am now. I went to almost last in the East to first in our division in the West so it's crazy but at the same time it's a great feeling and I'm just happy to be a Maverick"

Caron Butler, Mavs New Superstar!

By K.King

That's right I said it, move over Dirk there's a new shooter in town and his name is Caron Butler. Acquired from the Washington Wizzards in the 7-3 trade, Caron says he's happy to be a situation where there's potential for winning as opposed to a situation where there no winning. "It feels good to be here", I'm excited because I'm in a good situation. The Mavs have won there last 3 games back to back with Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood in the starting lineup relieving some pressure off of Nowitzki..

Since the acquisition of the players, the third player is DeShawn Stevenson, who has yet to see playing time with the Mavs. When coach Rick Carlisle says Stevenson will eventually see some playing time. "He's a really good player". But coach, when will we see him play? "I can't tell you when". Carlisle said.

Brendan Haywood as an offensive rebounder? Coach Carlisle says "yeah, Haywood takes up space in there and comes up with a lot of balls. Some of the ones he doesn't come up with he's able to redirect back our way. It's very helpful. We had a couple of those in th ePhoenix game and maybe one or two tonight.

Heat, Mavs, D. Wade and The Kardishians

By K. King

Caron Butler and the Mavs host the Miami Heat Saturday night without Dwayne Wade. Dwayne suffered from an injury he sustained in the game against (name) .. to his left leg. At game time D. Wade did not play, wore street clothes with his left leg in a walking cast. Caron Butler is doing his thang with defense and scoring.

Sat next to Dallas Weekly sportswriter, LaToya Hardeman, we gossiped and recapped the activities that went on during the all-star weekend. We talked trade talk between Josh Howard and the Mavs. Josh felt snifed in the trade... Some haters speculate that Josh off the court behavior may have cost him to be tradable since he was at the end of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

Since being traded to the Wizzards, Howad has been playing well scoring in double figures.. Josh was ready to move on, his ties with the Mavs were severed for whatever reason. However, the fans haven't missed Josh, especially with newly acquired Coron Butler playing and exploding on the open court with his scoring and defense ability.

Since his arrival with the Mavs, the teams defensive energy has improved even Jason Kidd has been playing well.

Tiger Woo....emerges apologizing he got caught.

By K. King

That's right I said it. After 3 months of seclusion, top PGA golfer, Tiger Woods emerges with an apology in a 13 minutes statement he read. Simply he says he aceppts responsibility for being irresposible and selfish. Wife and kids were not there.. Good to see she was not there...I would not have been either...How can a woman put on a happy face after something like that...

Tiger does not need to be in rehab...there is nothing wrong with him...he's simply not in love with Elin and that's ok. At least have the courage to realize it and have a discuss amongst the two of you...nah, that's to much like right...

Even if Elin stays the marriage will never be the same.. It's hard for a woman to accfept the fact that her husband slep with anonther can you imagine double digits...He's been inside these women, he has done things with these women Elin can't even imagine. Tiger is a freak!!!

Valentine Week Recap,

Well. The All-Star game is behind us....still, there's plenty of talk still being talk. Cowboy stadium recorded a 108,000 in attendance for the all-star game. Jerry Jones was seen grinning from cheek to cheek "GO COWBOYS" he said. I call Mr. Jones the ultimate marketer. He knows how to make $$$. I would like to interview Mr. Jones and talk about his talent for making money.. Anyway, Mavs owner Mark Cuban gave Jones a call, after realizing that the Americna Aitlines Centrer (AAC) would not hold the capacity expected. So, Mr. Cuban proposed the idea and as Mr. Cuban said "it was a no-brainer". Cowboys owner Jerry Jones got a chance to showcase his new stadium to the world AND make some $$, in fact, both cities- Dallas and Arlington= made plenty $$$$.

Mavs visit the Orlando Magic Friday night in Orlando... in Dwight Howard's territory. New Maverick Caron Butler (acquired in the 7-3 trade with the Washington Wizzards), is showing the trade for him as a player was a good move, so far. There's still plenty to check out I say.. follows his shot. He hustles, rebounds, and follows his shot, somkething the Mavs lacked.

When interviewing coach Rick Carlise I would always ask the question about offensive boards.. He would give some babble about 2 up front, 3 back on defense....yeah, yeah, the 2 up front was never following the shot they were running back on defense too....no second chance points.. Hopefully with the addition of Caron Butler and Brandon Haewood the Mavs will become a defense threat and known for their offenseive boards ability.

Haven't seen the third player in the trade, Stevenson... He hasn't played a minute of playing time..Maybe he was picked up for "cash consideration" as Donnie Nelson, Mavs president of basketball operations said during a released statement. Brandon Haewood offers dominance in the middle. He's a natural shot blocker and can guard with the best of 'em... Just what the Mavericks need a shot blocker and a defender who can make opposingplayers think twice about driving to the basket.

For the ladies learning the game, it means the Mavericks traded for player to win and for cash considerations

Fans seem to think the Mavs made a great move with this trade, some don't..

Mavericks trade Josh Howard

At first, the trade didn't make since to me. Afterall, Josh was a good defensive player and great ball handler, he could score, run and pass the ball and provide a good hustle off the bench. What I didn't realize is that Josh was at the end of his seven year contract plaque by injuries and off the court differences. It was said he became less involved in team play, which I found hard to believe, you could sense he was unhappy with his position with the team but he would never say it out loud.
He continue to play his game as Coach Carlise would allow. "Josh started his career with Dallas and it's hard to see him go" said Mavs GM Donnie Nelson.

Mavs Win!

The Dallas Mavericks hosts Don Nelson and the Golden State Warriors tonight at the American Airline Center. Mavericks are 2nd behind the San Antonio Spurs and must win this game against the Warriors to stay ahead.

Spoke with Mark Cuban tonight regarding the trade between Chris Humphries and Eduardo Najera. I asked him to explain to me why this particular trade was necessary? Mr Cuban, explain to me and the fans why this particular trade makes sense? Mr. Cuban this trade does not make sense to me, please explain the reason for trading Chris Humphries for Najera?
" It makes all the sense in the world. He'll provide energy off the bench -scoring- and besides Chris wasn't getting the minutes behind Damp and Gooden" . I pressed, Mr. Cuban, may I call you Mark?" Humphries provided the same thing that you traded Najera for? "Bottom line, it makes sense finacially...always the bottom line. Trading Humphries allows us leverage under the salary cap". Cuban added.

After I spoke to Mavs owner, Mark Cuban, I visited with Eduardo Najera on his return back to Dallas. " I love being back. I still own property in Dallas so I really haven't left. I've been gone 5 1/2 years." The fans treated me with love when I played here, so I'm glad to be back".
Ladies, you didn't have a chance to get to see the handsome Chris Humphries play. Look for him with the New Jersey Nets.

Spoke with Josh Howard about the usual stuff about the game, he referred me to coach Rick Carlise on some questions. For the most part, though, Howard is just trying to play his role and do what coach Carlise ask of him.
